“The Revival of the Ummah”

Introduction

PERKIM Club IIUM is a dakwah-based society that focuses on the welfare of the ummah. It operates under Centre for Community Engagement and Services (CENSERVE) since 27th November 2011. It is also linked with PERKIM Kebangsaan and other universities in the name of Kelab PERKIM Universiti (KPU).

With its motto: “The Revival of the Ummah” PERKIM Club IIUM strives on giving the community the best possible way in preaching and giving welfare especially towards the newly reverts (muallaf), aboriginal people (orang asli), homeless people as well as IIUM community itself.

Leadership: To create outstanding leaders with Islamic attitude and wide knowledge

Education: To provide duniawi and ukhrawi knowledge, skills and training comprehensively

Welfare: To help minimize the rate of poverty among the unfortunate target groups

HIKAM VOYAGE: KOA Rening Cameron Highlands

IMPACTFUL PROGRAM

KOA Rening is a rural aboriginal village located at Cameron Highlands with minority Muslims living among the total 200 villagers. HIKAM Voyage is a project that will expand the various type of knowledge with orang asli of the targeted region. This programme is a continuous effort to approach this community to ensure the sustainability and growth of the Islamic faith of the minority Muslims and to improve the educational level of the children of the orang asli. 

Highlighted programmes for the HIKAM Voyage are religious teaching, giving rations, and academic classes for the children. Religious teaching and academic classes are focusing on spreading Islamic knowledge and increasing the awareness of the importance of education. From the programmes that had been conducted, the awareness of the importance of education among the Orang Asli community is increasing. This programme also managed to established a strong relationship with the villagers and take care of their welfare.

Road Expedition For Educational Development (R.E.D.) Lemoi: Pos Lemoi, Cameron Highlands

IMPACTFUL PROGRAM

Road Expedition for Educational Development (R.E.D) Lemoi is a series project that involved the aboriginal community in POS Lemoi, Cameron Highlands, Pahang. This project aims to broaden the knowledge and skills of the Lemoi community. The project also focuses on reducing the distress of the Lemoi community by distributing basic necessities and raising awareness on the importance of education and academic opportunities among the children. 

The project is organised by 60 committees and collaboration with Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA). The highlighted programmes for this project are focusing on encouraging children and their parents to pursue their studies to tertiary education which is the university level. From the programmes that had been conducted, there is an increase in the number of students that receiving their studies, the inequalities among people are also reducing and there is also some achievement received by the Lemoi community.
