Homelessness is not a new phenomenon in our country. However, lately, it has become a social problem that is becoming more prevalent because this group’s living conditions imperil them to various social indications that affect all walks of life. However, it is unreasonable to blame them for such a life because, logically, no sane person would want to live a life of uncertainty and misery.
The Jom Bekpes program is not aimed at the homeless only, but we also provide adequate food needs for children and the feeble who need food to meet their daily necessities. Although the provision of food and beverages is short-term assistance, we can see numerous parties’ concerns in assuring this group’s welfare. And this program is implemented almost every week according to the adjustments and services provided by various institutions, government bodies, and non-governmental organizations. This matter coincides with the words of the Prophet SAW, “Whoever relieves a hardship of a believer, indeed Allah will release a difficulty on the Day of Judgment. Whoever makes others’ affairs easy, indeed Allah will facilitate his experiences in this world and the hereafter. ” (Hadith narrated by Muslim)
Among the activities organized were mass, fun learning modules, which involve the study of crucial subjects apart from cultural exchange between the two countries, and a forum on educational values. This programme was officiated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zulkifli Hasan, the Deputy Rector of Student Development and Community Engagement. The feedbacks received were positive, paving the way for future enhancement on the programme to bemade.
